Menopausal Issues

You may not realize how much the decrease of hormones has affected you. As a matter of fact, you may have convinced yourself that your thickening waistline, increase in your bustline, depression, mood swings, lack of sleep, joint pain, changes in your hair color, complexion changes and lack of sex drive are just due to bad living, bad genes, a failing marriage or maybe just your lot in life.Well, I'm here to tell you that it might be any of those things but in reality it's due to a decrease in your hormones, specifically, ESTRADIOL, one of 50 estrogens in our body! Its only recently that our doctors discovered that we had more than one estrogen, let alone 50. There are 3 estrogens that the medical community focuses on; one that occurs only in pregnancy, called ESTRIOL, or E3; a second one referred to as ESTRONE, or E1, the bad estrogen, or the cancer causing estrogen; and, ESTRADIOL, or E2, our friend for life.

Replacing our decreasing hormones has led to a lot of controversy especially in the last few years. A study that came out in 2002 led millions of women to believe that taking any HRT's, or hormone replacement therapy was detrimental to their health, causing  increases in uterine and breast cancer as well as heart attacks. The truth about this study is two-fold. First the participants were post menopausal women over 60, who had never been treated with any replacement hormones before and who had pre-existing health problems. They treated them with Prempro, an artificial estrogen therapy derived from the urine of horses. Just that fact itself would make you wonder if there wouldn't be problems!  However, after  researching this for yourself  you may decide to replace your decreasing levels of Estradiol, which I firmly believe in. I would strongly recommend using BIO-IDENTICAL, hormone replacement therapy or compounds which are the same molecular structure as the hormones made by the ovary, such as theVivelle DOT patch, my patch of choice.
