Most people seem to want to hide the fact that they are getting older, let alone over fifty, which I find so strange and sad. In fact it amazes me how many people over 50 are turned away from management jobs when they have finally hit their stride and are ready to soar! There there are people out there who will pay 100’s of thousands of dollars for 100+ yr bottle of wine because they know how incredible the wine will taste. I believe that to be true for myself, and of course you, as well. I am becoming more tasty, if you will with all the years of experience on my side. I believe it’s my job to be a Role Model for that way of thinking and have voted myself President of this movement. I hope this site will inspire people all ages, but especially those who are 50+ to rejoice in their accomplishments and start enjoying what has turned out to be the best part of my life. However, I also believe that there are ground rules for keeping us looking and feeling our best but we may have forgotten some of the rules and therefore need a reminder and that is where I come into play.
I believe that turning 50 is the equivalent to being re-born or starting over. They say we live in 7 year cycles, so I just ended my first set of seven. In other words....I’m just now entering my 2nd set of 49 years as a mature newborn complete with the memories and experience of the first 49 years, but with all the self-esteem and confidence that I lacked before. I believe that it is time to be true to ourselves, where we not only hear what we are saying to and about ourselves but also making sure that we are in balance with that truth.
"I'm ready to be me; to take on the world, have the time of my life, and PLAY as well as GROW! Would you care to join me?"
JILL'S STORY: I first noticed what are now referred to as peri-menopausal symptoms at the age of 41 and hit full blown menopause around age 46. I was faced with terrible health problems that wreaked havoc on my well-being, sex life, bodybuilding aspirations, weight and happiness. For 2 years I studied online, refreshed my nursing education and met with various doctors and bodybuilding professionals to create a program that literally changed my life. I lost 21 pounds over an 8 month period and put on the most muscle I've ever had. I went on to win three first place trophies in a local bodybuilding show in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 25, 2004, at the age of 49 while being the oldest woman in the show!
I worked hard for the last 50 years developing my inner self, my professional self, my body, my mind, my personality, my spirit, and my sense of fashion. I’m finally ready and mature enough to take myself seriously and stop seeking permission to be my true self and to be true to myself. I'm no longer afraid to be a sexual being, so I dress exactly how I feel. I am happy to say that I’m often told, by women of all ages, how fabulous I look. I am so proud of the years behind me and look forward to the years ahead. It’s my intention to be a spokesperson for women; a role model who says all the things that women would love to say if they stopped censoring themselves. So many people compliment me on my courage to be who I am, that I started my first company, "Interiors & Exteriors" to share the knowledge I've acquired. This site is for people who have asked me to share with them how I look the way I do. I am always flattered and ecstatic and will do everything in my power to do just that.
I had chosen the name: "Interiors & Exteriors" for my business because I believe that our Internal picture, i.e., our hormone levels, both female and male which create a blueprint that helps us determine and understand what our Exterior form will look like. Once we understand what might be missing, we can begin to internally adjust our hormones, diets, workouts, etc to allow us to attain the external goal that we have set for ourselves. It’s the only way I’ve found that has ever worked on my body to manipulate it so that I could achieve the goals I had set for myself.
However, at 53 while continuing along this path, I gathered new information that has allowed me to change some of my thinking. A doctor that I was seeing used a common word in an unusual way and it helped me to begin to question some of my own practices. Instead of saying the word MENOPAUSE as we know it, he said ME NO PAUSE! How brilliant, I thought and from that moment on began a new part of my journey which is what I have come to write about in my book titled, Boomer in Bloom. I am excited to finish the book and be able to share it with you. So please look over my site, check out my photos, blog and events calendar and feel free to contact me with questions. I am still doing some one to one training and online consultations but prefer to use my time more effectively as a public speaker to connect with more people. If you are interested in having me speak about my journey, the body, health concerns, menopause, bodybuilding or fitness in general, please email me or call me for more information. Thank you so much for your interest. I hope to never let you down.
